SAE Amman and its online community partners welcome you to the Digital Journalism Competition.

It is exciting, easy and fun. All you need to do is fill out the form below, choose one of the categories, upload your work as per the specifications shown and wait for the jury's decision!

You may drop off your project at SAE Amman if your project is greater in size than the maximum upload size.

The deadline to receive projects is 6 May 2010.

Submissions

  • Submissions must be original
  • Each category will have one winner
  • Each winner will receive JOD 500. We will have four winners only
  • Winners will be announced on 9 May 2010, the day SAE Amman starts its Digital Journalism 1-year diploma.

Location: Near Marj Al-Hamam bridge
Timings: Projects can be submitted at SAE Amman premises from 9am - 6:30pm everyday; Sundays to Thursdays only.

Investigative report (video format[avi, mp4, mpeg] or sound bite[wav, mp3]), maximum size: 10MB
A profile for a local artist (PDF Format document only), minimum of 950 word and maximum 2500 word. size: 500KB.
An interview of a local band, radio celebrity or writer (video format[avi, mp4, mpeg] or sound bite[wav, mp3]), maximum size: 10MB

Terms & conditions

1. To enter a competition you must be 18 years old or over at the time of entry. If you are younger, you will need to visit us at SAE Amman and provide us with your parent's approval on your participation.

2. The address you provide with your competition entry will be used to verify your prize so make sure this is correct. Unless stated otherwise in the Competition terms and conditions, competitions are only open to residents of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and you are not entitled to enter the Competition if you are resident outside of Jordan.

3. Employees (or members of the families or households of employees) of Luminus Group or any company involved in the Competition, if relevant, are not eligible to enter the Competition. SAE Amman reserves the right not to award a prize (and to select an alterative winner) if SAE Amman is aware or has reasonable grounds to believe that a winner is not eligible.

4. By entering the competition, you hereby warrant that all information submitted by you is true, current and complete. SAE Amman reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants.

5. SAE Amman reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of the Rules.

6. In the event that any entrant is disqualified from the Competition, SAE Amman in its sole discretion may decide whether a replacement should be selected. In this event, any further entrant will be selected on the same criteria as the original entrant and will be subject to these Rules.

7. There is no purchase requirement to enter a competition and there is no charge to register for use of the website.

8. Only one entry per person. In case the same person submitted more than one entry, only the first entry will be taken into consideration as the official competition entry.

9. If you want to enter a competition you may enter via the website by filling out the online form and upload your project, or you can also drop off your project to SAE Amman during the working hours identifying the category, name, address and email on the envelope. Entrants should note that unless stated otherwise, SAE Amman does not accept responsibility for the return of any Entries or its materials (ie DVDs, CDs, USBs...etc).

10. SAE Amman does not, unless we agree this with you, claim any rights of ownership in your Entry. As such, you retain ownership of your Entry and, although SAE Amman will be able to use Entries as set out in the terms and conditions, you will also have the right to use your Entry in any way you choose. If you win a prize, as a condition to receipt of that prize, you may be required to sign a release form (in SAE Amman's standard form) in connection with the prize-winning submission.

11. In consideration of SAE Amman agreeing to consider entrants to the Competition, each entrant hereby agrees that SAE Amman (and third parties authorised by SAE Amman and its online community partners) may make any and all Entries available on the website and any other media subject that the name of the author is mentioned.

12. SAE Amman does not guarantee to use or otherwise make available any Entry. SAE Amman may also, in appropriate circumstances, and at its sole discretion, reject, edit, remove or disable access to Entries that appear to be legally or otherwise problematic e.g. infringe the copyright or other intellectual property or privacy rights of others, are defamatory etc. or for any other reason.

13. Sending an e-mail is not proof that we have received your entry. No responsibility can be accepted for entries that are lost or delayed, or which are not received for any reason. However, if you drop off your project at SAE Amman's premises, you will receive a confirmation on receipt.

14. The closing date is as specified for the challenge, and SAE Amman reserves the right to amend the competition end date at any time.

15. Winners will be announced on SAE Amman's website and blog. Failure in receiving the award after 3 months from announcing the winners on the official blog for SAE Amman, will result in canceling the winner. No other entries will be selected.

16. By entering the competition the winner agrees to participate in such promotional activity and material as SAE Amman may require.

17. The panel of judges for the competition comprised of:
- Kieran Kalvin, GM and Head of Film & TV, SAE Amman
- Digital Journalism lecturer, SAE Amman
- Ammannet representative
- Ammonnews representative
- Aramram representative
- Jordan Zad representative

18. The prize will not be transferable to another person. The winner must be presented to receive the prize.

19. Incorrectly completed entries will be disqualified.

20. This competition is being run by SAE Amman (in coordination with Al-Quds College).

21. SAE Amman may create rules which will apply to a specific category only. If we do this we will publish the amended competition rules on the relevant competition page.

22. SAE Amman will endeavour to cash in the prizes within a month of the competition end date but cannot guarantee this delivery time.

23. SAE Amman cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the Competition or as a result of accepting any prize. SAE Amman is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment or software, failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, telephone lines or at any web site, or any combination of these, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer or mobile telephone related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the Competition. Nothing shall exclude SAE Amman's liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.
